The North Lafourche Conservation, Levee & Drainage District (NLLD) is pleased to announce the launch of their new web site along with an enhanced public outreach initiative that includes live Internet streaming, an E-newsletter, a Facebook page and bi-annual presentations to the Lafourche Parish Council.  The new web site can be visited at and provides user-friendly access to many of the District’s resources.

Through the new web site, the public can now watch live Internet streaming of the District’s monthly committee and board meetings.  In addition, the public can view videos of previous meetings; sign up for the District’s E-newsletter, access meeting agendas and view a list of on-going projects throughout the district.

“Our new web site, E-newsletter and Facebook pages provides the District an opportunity to reach our stakeholders in a variety of ways so they can stay up to date on our flood protection projects throughout the district as well as provide valuable resources on current issues such as coastal restoration and flood insurance” says Dwayne Bourgeois, NLLD Executive Director.

“One of the District’s goals this year was to expand our public outreach efforts so the community can be better informed of the District’s meetings and our significant progress. I think we have achieved that with our new web site, our live Internet streaming and our social media presence,” adds Cory Kief, current NLLD Board President.

In addition, in a recent NLLD Board meeting, the Board decided to provide bi-annual presentations at the Lafourche Parish Council meetings in order to provide another avenue to keep the Council and Citizens of our district updated on NLLD’s progress throughout the district.  The NLLD and the Parish partner on several projects and NLLD will provide updates on those projects as well as others and a post Storm Season re-cap.  NLLD Director, Dwayne Bourgeois will make a presentation to the Council this Tuesday, December 10.

“We have always had a mutually beneficial relationship with the Parish and while the Council members are always welcome to attend our monthly meetings, we felt that making a presentation at the Council meeting is another great opportunity to keep the Council and our constituents updated on our projects,” states Bourgeois.

Bourgeois has also been making presentations to various organizations throughout the parish this past year and he will be presenting at the Thibodaux Rotary Club on December 17 and the Chamber of Lafourche in January.  If any organization would like NLLD to make a presentation at one of their meetings, they can contact the NLLD office at 985-537-2244.

The NLLD was formed in 1992 to provide drainage and flood protection services for the northern portion of Lafourche Parish, including the entire parish north of the Intracoastal Canal.  The NLLD District includes over 250 miles of levees and drainage canals and over 40 pump stations.
