North Lafourche Levee District Board Elects Officers

At its monthly meeting held October 23, 2013, the North Lafourche Levee District (NLLD) Board of Commissioners held its annual election of officers. The results are as follows:
President – Cory Kief
Vice President – George W. Broussard, Sr.
Secretary/Treasurer – Kenney Matherne
Lonny Babin served as the Board’s President during the 2012-2013 term.
“The levee district has made significant progress under Lonny Babin’s leadership and we appreciate his service on our Board,” says Dwayne Bourgeois, Executive Director of the North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District.
Bourgeois states, “We look forward to working with the newly elected officers as we remain committed to continuing our focus on ‘turning dirt’ in order to build projects so we can minimize flooding for communities throughout our District.”
The NLLD was formed in 1992 to provide flood protection for the northern portion of Lafourche Parish, including the entire parish north of the Intracoastal Canal. NLLD works to maintain over 250 miles of levees and drainage canals and to improve it’s over 40 Pump Stations.
